When you buy Forman Farms fruit and vegetables, you are choosing to eat food that has traveled very little and therefore maintains a small carbon footprint. On top of that, we burn renewable biomass fuels to heat the greenhouses, employ local people for our management positions, and use integrated pest management strategies in all of our greenhouse growing. We have an Environmental Farm Plan and are active tree planters. Keep Ontario farmers and your family healthy – buy local.
We Go Above and Beyond, selling our produce and decor to local (Gananoque, Kingston, Elgin, Perth, Lansdowne) Grocery Stores, Restaurants and Resellers.
Hydroponic Produce
Forman Farms is perhaps best known for our juicy, vine-ripened tomatoes. In season from March to November, we offer mouth-watering beefsteak tomatoes, ripe on-the-vine tomatoes, and a wide variety of mini tomatoes – in every shape from grape to cherry, and every colour from purple to yellow!
The controlled greenhouse environment enables us to grow a uniform crop that minimizes waste and maximizes yield and quality. Greenhouse growing is efficient and allows yield up to 20 times more produce, per square meter, compared with outdoor agriculture.
In the horticultural industry, hydroponic greenhouses are seen as a viable solution to sustainability issues. With their ability to generate larger quantities of output, while conserving resources.
To produce fruit, greenhouse plants rely on one of nature’s best (natural) pollinators: the bumblebee. Strategically placed hives, throughout the greenhouse, ensures efficient and effective pollination, leading to healthy and abundant crops.
